Gallery Permissions

Postby Linda on Sun Jul 29, 2007 8:23 pm

Well,

I was reading posts on GoDaddy's Metropolis and noticed your review of Gallery 2. I installed the Gallery, but I have some problems.

I have just spent the afternoon scouring the Forums for the answer to, "How do I create private user albums such that my clients can only see/edit their own album? I don't see a way to do this with edit permissions.

Do you have any idea how I can accomplish my goal?

Thanks!
Linda

Gallery Permissions (Menalto Gallery)

Hi,

Follow these steps:

1. Logon to your Gallery as an administrator. Go to "Site Admin" -> "Users" and create a new user.

2. Create an album for the user. Go to "Site Admin" -> "Back to Album" -> "Add Album".

3. Change the permission of album. Under each album you'll see combo box, choose "Edit Permissions". If you don't want that everyone will see this picures and sub albums, click on "Remove" next to "Everybody". At the bottom of the screen you'll see "New User Permission", type the user name and choose permission ("All access" - user can do all operations or "add sub-item" - user can upload pictures only). Click "Add Permission" at the end.

Enjoy

Hi,

I did some test, I created a new user and gave him "Add sub item" permission only for one of the web albums.
I logged in with a new user and saw "Add item" option only (in specific web album).

Yes, you can remove these links from Gallery2 code, but all users won't see "edit permissions" links. Or you can change the code that only some users won't see these links. For that you need strong knowledge of PHP.

What exactly are you trying to do?
What version of Gallery2 do you use ?
